We are sad and disappointed to say that The WB Network has passed on Dark Shadows, and it is unlikely that the series itself will see the light of day. This website will continue to exist in the event there are any updates to share; fans are invited to post in the Message Forum. In the meantime, since there won't be any new Shadows this year, you may want to check out the Original Series and see why people really fell in love with the Dark Shadows concept in the first place.

If any references below talk about the series as if it is still happening, it is because the articles were written prior to The WB's announcement. If you have any news regarding the Dark Shadows pilot, please e-mail us.

"My name is Victoria Winters. My journey is beginning - a journey that I hope will open the doors of life to me, and link my past with my future. A journey that will bring me to a strange and dark place - to the edge of the sea high atop Widow's Hill - a house called Collinwood. A world I've never known, with people I've never met. People who tonight are still only shadows in my mind, and who will soon fill the days and nights of my tomorrows."

Special note: It has been brought to our attention that the previous details posted here on the site may have revealed a bit more than what should be put up onto the Net. In respect to Warner Bros. in addition to the show's producers, we have pared down the spoilers quite a bit. We don't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of Dark Shadows should it be picked up; but more importantly, we don't want to purposely ruin any surprises by the show's creators.

The same details that were posted before are still here... simply summarized a bit. We hope you understand. Our apologies to those behind the new Dark Shadows if a little too much was said. It will not happen again, and if there is something on this page that you don't want posted, please e-mail us.

New Teaser Spoilers - Posted April 15, 2004:

  • Before we see Victoria at the train station, in the pre-credits teaser, we see Victoria on the train. There is a "My name is Victoria Winters..." voiceover but it's not the same as the one that started off 1966 or 1991; this one is more to narrate the moments we are seeing at that point.
  • Victoria sees something terrible on the train, but it may be just a dream.
  • An old man on the train tells her not to worry. This is the role that we hear was originally offered to former "Barnabas" Jonathan Frid, that he turned down.
  • The script calls for a shot of waves crashing on rocks with the blood-red title "Dark Shadows" being seen over the water. Here's hoping this bit stays, as it sounds fantastic and quite familiar in a very good way.

Revised Spoilers - Posted February 28, 2004:

  • The pilot begins familiarly - Victoria Winters arrives in Collinsport to an empty train station. She is greeted there by a familiar person from classic Dark Shadows - Willie Loomis, who here works for Roger Collins.
  • Victoria is brought to the impressive Collinwood estate, home to the Collins family. There she meets young 9 year old terror David Collins, who claims to see ghosts and will do anything he can to torment her; David's father, Roger; Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the matriarch of Collinwood; and Carolyn, Elizabeth's daughter.
  • Carolyn dreams of leaving Collinsport, and wishes her boyfriend, Joe Haskell, who works for a fishing fleet, would just run off with her. She is most afraid of growing up like her mother.
  • There's a new character this time around, by the name of Kelly Greer. She pals around with Willie Loomis, and is there when Barnabas is found and let loose. Her fate, however, will be much different than Willie's... in the first "new twist on an old legend" that we will find in the new Dark Shadows.
  • Barnabas introduces himself to the Collins family here as a "cousin from England," in similar ways to how he did in the first two incarnations of the show. By the way, for those of you who didn't watch the earlier versions, here's a little secret: Barnabas is a 200 year old vampire. The Collins family, of course, doesn't know this, but they do note he looks just like his ancestor.
  • Hints of the popular character of Angelique as well as a ghost named Sarah, both of whom should be familiar to long-time fans, may also come in. There are also a lot of questions asked about David Collins' mother, which could imply the storyline of Roger's wife may come into play at some point.
  • Barnabas comes across an item that will remind him of Angelique, and it will greatly disturb him.
  • The tidbits that have leaked feature some clever dialogue that should appeal to both fans of the original Dark Shadows and of recent series. The fact that some characters are going in new directions tells us that things won't be perfectly familiar; and thus, very good things could happen.
  • Curious as to who else may be showing up? Dr. Julia Hoffman and Sheriff Patterson are both mentioned and/or seen...
